A true sanctuary

Westmount, Montreal, Quebec

The Owner of this garden, an extremely busy doctor, scientist and a University professor, was embarking on her huge property renovation and wanted a garden that would be her true sanctuary, a place to relax.

We worked with three key elements: water, a sculpture and a gazebo. To highlight the artwork we decided to go with a formal garden. The controlled geometrical traditional shape of perfectly trimmed cedars and boxwoods were chosen to do this. A bronze statue, Famiglia Sagrada #2 by Oleg Dergachev in the rectangular small black granite pool was commissioned by the client. A seven foot frameless mirror was also added against a natural hedging backdrop to open up the space even more. A gazebo made from high-tech materials, by Fernado Lopez and Conchita Garcia (Columna-metal inc and Glass Experts) sits invitingly in the surroundings of all the elements of the garden.

The final outcome of this combination is a fusion of classic and modern expression, allowing the owner to enjoy its serenity.
